Instead I got the f 2.8 ii, which is definitely impressive but a beast to carry around, which is why I still have the f 4 version. Under the right conditions both are capable of some very impressive output but the f 4 can't separate the subject from the background like the f 2.8 can.

i disagree with that statement, please post your best shot with f2.8 II and lets compare, here is why and look at isolation and bokeh:
