I've always used DPP (3 & 4) for converting Canon DSLR RAW files except for high-ISO ones. Last night I did a test converting an ISO 12,800 650D file with DPP4 and DxO OpticsPro 11 using its Prime NR, and DxO won by a very large margin.
Yeah, I don't use DPP for NR either (though I should run a comparison again sometime). I usually use Noise Ninja, or sometimes Photoshop.

I had migrated to DPP but then I paid $150 to get the last standalone LR with my T7i because of the following demo

and wow, it is incredible!
Yeah, Lightroom really is impressive. Love the interface.

agree, but this may be my last version since I don't (probably wouldn't) pay subscriptions
