NX500 - megapixels DO matter
3

As a photographer, I'm an amateur and at the end of the day, all I care is having a photo look good on 27" Apple Thunderbolt screen. Last time I printed a photo was 6 years ago when I got married and wanted to create a physical photo album. In general, I have zero interest printing anything. Because of that, cropping is an important tool for me to reframe photos or "zoom" if that's what you want to call it. This is where NX500 delivers in a big way.

I recently bought a NX500 and 16mm f/2.4 and so far I'm VERY impressed. My idea was to move on from Canon G7X and have something better that fits my pocket. I visited New Orleans and used the trip to test my gear - and yes it fits my pocket. It's not slim, but it fit.

The attached photo is an unedited photo I took - and a crop of it large enough to look good on a large screen. I bumped up the crop resolution 30% with http://letsenhance.io to allow further cropping and it actually looks great. I ran the numbers and concluded that the crop is a 110mm equivalent "digital zoom" - when criteria is that all it needs is look good on computer screen (i.e. not for printing purposes).

It's really nice to have something this powerful and compact in my pocket and know that I have a 24-110 "zoom" available when I need. My next trip is to Columbia next week and I will be testing NX500 with the 16-50mm kit lens and see which lens I prefer moving forward.
