Learn to use your own reflexes / eyes/ hands / sense of anticipation / etc instead of expecting a machine / computer to get the decisive moment for you.

Mario Testino's medium format film camera had a very poor AF system and FPS and so did Richard Avedon's - but look at the work they did/ still do!

Do you think if you said to Testino - 'hey I worked out how to give your medium format film camera 5 frames per second' - he'd start using it?  No way.

AF is not going to make or break great photos, especially for portraits, in fact most really serious portrait photographers use manual focus, or at least a large proportion do.

Learnt to use your own reflexes and don't let a machine with less vision and ability than your own brain and senses do the photographs for you.
