Backpacking daypack for D7200 18-140mm

I've only taken my DSLR once on a backpacking trip mainly due to cumbersome size etc.

I'm off to Costa Rica which is safer than my usual places and with the scenery/animals a disappointment not to be bringing my DLSR.

I have a D7200 + 18-140mm and at the moment i use a Lowepro TLZ 30 II Adventura Toploading Bag which i put in a TNF Borealis 28L bag my day pack.

Basically the camera ends up spending a lot of its time upside down (in the top loading bag) inside the daypack resting on its lens. Is this good for a camera or should i find a way of reversing it somehow with the lens pointing up?

Also anyone have any suggestions for a a better daypack for a DSLR? all the camera backpacks i can find only seem suitable for a camera and not be able to store anything else.

Thanks

Nikon D7200
