D80 Focus Motor: Can a Nimwit swap it out?

I have a broken D80. The focus motor went bad, and the local repair shop says its a known problem with the D80, and basically all the D80's were unreliable straight from Nikon until they get a 3rd party or new motor. I have no reason to disbelieve them. The repair will be $230-$250.

But, suppose I find a D80 for parts, or come across a focus motor on Ebay. How hard would it be for me to replace it? I was able to follow and execute instructions to replace a Nikon Coolpix P530 LCD screen. That was extremely difficult with the two electronic ribbon contacts, but I got through it. So maybe I am actually a Nimwit +1EV.

I am using this as a mental excuse to put the money I would have spent on a repair, to a D7200 or D7500, where it would be 20-25% of a new body. Don't want to debate cameras here, but that is why I want to cheap my way through this. Then I would be L33t with a backup camera or a gift it to a family member (I do have a 11 year old niece interested in photography).

Any experiences, sources for parts?
