Here in the UK some of the kit lenses are different from the US, unfortunately the 18 -135 STM can't be bought with the camera in the UK. And the III lens isn't available as a kit in US, but after reading all your comments I wouldn't buy that one anyway.

Thanks for the many helpful replies. The pictures look very sharp.

Just happened upon this thread rather late.  I too am in the UK; the Mark III lens is a false economy as it is just the latest cosmetic version of the cheapest "DC" standard zoom - a little more compact than the f3.5 version of the 18-55 STM but the new f4 18-55 STM is smaller than both and suits the 200D's size very well.  As others mentioned, the STM is fast and silent with focus (the Mark III is louder and slower; it also extends and rotates on AF and MF, which the STM doesn't). The Mk III's focus ring rotates during AF and mustn't be obstructed, whilst the STM focus ring stays put in AF and it doesn't matter if you touch or obstruct it.  In fact, with the STM you can set the camera to allow you to attain focus, then manually fine-tune with the focus ring, which you can't do on the Mark III.  Then of course the STM has optical image stabilisation, which the Mark III doesn't, and the new f4 STM has the nice, logical zoom extension somebody mentioned - shortest at 18mm, longest at 55mm, whereas all the earlier versions have been at their shortest in the middle of the zoom range.  To me, the f4 STM is my favourite version so far, with all the great functional improvements of the f3.5 STM and extra compactness as a bonus.
