I just picked up an Olympus E-M1 mk II .... I already have a Lumix GX7 and a pretty decent selection of m43 primes and some bang-for-buck zooms.

Living in Ireland, a big selling point of the E-M1 mk II is the robust weather sealing, and now my disposable cash savings are squarely aimed at picking up some of the pro Olympus lenses.

I'm disinclined to pick up a 40-150mm pro, since I feel like there is bound to be an IS version in the pipeline .... if there's an IS 12-100mm pro lens, and an IS 300mm pro lens ... then sssuuuuurely the piggy in the middle, 40-150, is due an IS update.

Am I right in thinking along these lines ?

I'm not a pro, and the sums of money involved are large enough that I'd rather wait for the update if it is an inevitability.

Opinions please, ladies & gentlemen.

thank you.

Have you considered waiting to see if Panasonic announce the rumoured 50-200mm f2.8-4 next month?

If that one comes with IS (OIS) you can bet it won't be compatible for joint IS use on an Olympus body, just like the other current Panasonic OIS lenses, so there's no real value in waiting for that announcement for an Olympus user.

not sure that's true but hey, respect your opinion
