Sadly, this happened when people upgraded to the 5D Mark IV and thought the color was worse...it's not, it's just registered differently.

The newer Canon cameras out of camera settings are much flatter than in previous bodies. This is a result of the newer sensor designs and the current generation of Digic processors. In a sense, it means you have more flexibility because you're starting with a flatter profile.

That relieves my concern. A good, reasonable explanation.

The best way to dial in your camera to your taste is to go into your backyard or anywhere that you can put a person into a landscape. The first thing I do to all my cameras is create a personal "User Defined 1" profile. While I mainly shoot RAW, I occasionally use JPEGs. Here are my settings on my M5 that gave me pleasing images. YOU NEED to boost the sharpness to maximum because this camera creates very soft JPEGS versus the RAW files.

  • Sharpness Strength 7
  • Sharpness Fineness 1
  • Sharpness Threshold 2
  • Contrast 2
  • Saturation 3
  • Color Tone 0
  • Saturation 7

What do you know the basis of user Defined profile is? Standard style or Faithful style, or another? That your settings please you encourages me very much. Thank you for your input.
