Is Canon using same method for exposure calculation in both the cases?

You tell me. The user sets the metering mode (Evaluative, Centerweighted, Partial or Spot) in "creative zone" exposure modes P, Av, Tv, M. Otherwise it is always Evaluative in the "basic zone" exposure modes.

It is almost same screen.

Almost isn't necessarily the same. The exposure chosen by Evaluative, Partial, and Spot can vary widely with slight differences in aim/composition.

In such a situation, I would just try again with the mode changed to full automatic. Usually works with my SL1.
