PC-Sync Cable and Speedlite Flash?
As I mentioned in an earlier thread (https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/60061843), the hotshoe-mounted flash cable I am using interferes with my headlamp (see the photo below). Would connecting my flash with a PC-Sync cable be a viable alternative? Would it be less reliable? I know I would have to use the flash in manual mode, which is fine.
One concern I have is that leaving the port cover open could leave my camera vulnerable to water damage (I shoot in tropical rainforests). If so, is there a way I could protect my camera while using a PC-Sync cable?
