Beginner Dance Photography

Any recommendations on which camera to purchase for someone who is just starting with photography and would like to focus on ballet performance? She has no training or background in photography, but she recently got a job as assistant photographer at her college arts center and her photos look pretty good.  She has been using a Cannon 6d for general performance (not ballet but some dance), but finds that it is too slow and noisy.  This may, or may not develop into a career for her since she has had a long interest in photography but never a good camera to work with. If we just need to give her money for Christmas and have her save towards something more expensive, that's fine, but I have no idea on the best approach for this. She is asking a photographer she knows at at Pro ballet company for recommendations, also. Also, she was thinking of using a Cannon since she has inherited some older macro Canon lenses from the pre-digital age which we have been told might be quite valuable still.  So far we have been looking at the Nikon D800E as a Nikon alternative, but that is definitely going to take at least a couple of Christmas gift cycles to obtain! Should we be starting with a more basic camera until she has acquired more expertise?

Thanks.

Canon EOS 6D Nikon D800E
