I would suggest a couple of things.

One, LR will almost certainly do what you need in terms of adjustments. I spent a long time using just LR alone and very rarely wanted anything that more capable editors provide, even PS. For the monthly price it's good value - disclaimer, I re-signed for the monthly LR only package when the iPad Pro version shipped and find it very good for my limited needs.

Two, there are loads of free trials available for all sorts of packages. Most of them are decent at editing images but lack in the asset management facilities. But having said that, if you have an organised mind you can probably get away with an organised folder structure. It won't allow you to search for images shot at f4 with a 200mm lens but if you want that, I'd say you want LR.
