Cataract lenses & photography

Heading for cataract surgery, and I have a question:

As I understand it, there is a "standard" lens, which will require glasses after surgery. But there are others, the most "premium" of which allows focusing your eye for distant, middle-distance, as well as reading, without glasses.

Does anyone have experience using the latter type, and how does it work (or not) looking through a DSLR's viewfinder? (It would be nice to be able to use a viewfinder, without glasses, as many of us are aware.)

Thank you.
