I don't have a G5 but I do have a C5050 that I got for the same money as you spent on your G5.
I'm glad to know that there are still some people like yourself and YWG who enjoy using old stuff and don't feel horribly limited by their gear. I'll admit that I enjoy my $ 30.00 S90 at double the Mpeg output.

Oh, I still enjoy using some of my newer gear too (including my S95 that I also paid $30 for, my G10 I snatched up for $50, and my G15 I paid all of $75 for). There is just something so.. fun.. about utilizing older tech and pushing it to the max. Plus, it brings you more back to your roots, and forces you to actually think about what you are doing, and utilizing skill.
To this end, the G5 is a great fit for me (along with my PowerShot S50 and S80). Those amazing CCD colors too.. wow!
