EF 24-70 f2.8 L IS released with 5DsR II

Hi all,

Here's the thing, I' in the market for a 24-70 f2.8 ii as a general purpose lens where my 16-35 f4 IS or 100-400 ii aren't suitable. Image Stabilisation would be nice but it is not a must for my needs (the 2.8 aperture is much more important). Though I am not happy with the corner sharpness from 50-70mm.

So I've been thinking about whether this lens will be updated, and my guess is that Canon will release this at photokina in september 2018 along with a 70-200 f2.8 L IS III and a 5DsR II.

What are your thoughts about it? There are also rumours about a 50 f1.4 L and a 135 f2 L IS but I think those will be released early 2018. Do you think Canon will improve corner sharpness with their new IS version at the long end? I mean even if this affects center sharpness, I'd rather have consistent sharpness across the frame.

I'd be happy to hear your thoughts.
