crop in camera or crop sensor

Hi

(for simplifying the discussion I will pick hardware)

lets assume that one has a d750  with then nikon 85 1.8g which is considered a very good lens and also a d7200 camera.

One wants to see like is having an around 120mm lens.

You can use the d750 shoot and then crop in post to the equivalent of 120mm

or you can use the d7200 and use the file directly.

If both cameras shoot at iso 100 and properly exposed (no very deep shadows) which camera will resolve more details (is this equivalent to sharpness)?

You can also assume that the cameras use different apertures to have an equivalent depth of field and only shutter speeds are different to keep the iso at 100.

What will be your opinion?

Regards

Alex
