Suggestion? refer to Sony models with digits rather than Roman numeral i's (a7R3 rather than a7Riii)
9

Maybe I'm the only one who get easily confused, but I'd suggest forum members consider using digits (0 1 2 ... 9 ... n) to refer to advancing Sony models rather than Roman numerals (i ii iii iv v .... )

  • a7R ... ok (maybe a7 classic?)
  • a7R2 rather than a7Rii
  • a7R3 rather than a7Riii
  • to me, it adds to "reader workload" to quickly identify an a7Rii as distinguished from the a7Riii
  • similar convention for a7, a7S, RX100, RX-1, etc. ?

First world problem ? Agree ...

I realize Sony (and Canon and others) seem to prefer Roman numerals, a'la Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V, Canon 5div. And a capital I (letter i) looks a lot like a 1 (one), depending on the font.

I'm inclined to like what Nikon does, such as D800, D800e, D810, D850, etc. Also, Sony has been using what to me seems preferred with crop cameras a6000, a6300, a6500, etc.

Too late? Who cares? Sony rules?

To this aging codger / curmudgeon , the minor issues is just that much more opportunity to get confused yet again.
