Testing RX10 IV Focus: Comments, Criticism & Suggestions, Please

I’ve enjoyed using my RX10 III but decided to upgrade to the new RX10 IV for the same reasons many here have given, especially the PDAF.

My first couple of outings with the RX10 IV produced images of very mixed focus results making me wonder if I might have a bad copy that doesn’t focus accurately or if it was just user error. After seeing some stellar results from several folks here, I decided to try using most of the camera settings shown by David (Horacecoker) in his post.

Here are some of my shots from ARW files tweaked in Lightroom and exported as full-size jpgs. I’d appreciate any comments, constructive criticism & suggestions. My old skin is pretty thick so no need to be gentle or hold back.

I still have a lot to learn about using this camera to its potential. The settings were as follows:

Image Quality = Raw

Focus Area = Lock-on Flexible Spot Large

Shooting Mode = Aperture Priority F4

Metering Mode = Spot Large

ISO = Auto with min 100 & max 800

ISO Auto Minimum Shutter Speed = Faster

Frame Rate Continuous Low

Steady Shot = On
