D500 - Is the Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8G ED still good?

Hi,

So I recently bought the D500 and I've been using my old Nikkor 24-70mm (non VR) but I've been wondering if it's still a good choice considering what's out there today.

I could probably get a decent price for this lens and buy something else (16-80mm maybe). I mostly take photos of friends so I don't need a massive zoom, the 16-80 range is perfect really. I saw the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 is supposed to be good but couldn't find a comparison against my lens, just the newer one.

All opinions welcome.

Thanks,
