I am in that crowd...owning 2 k5IIs and one K5II... solid, reliable and always gettng the shot I want.

My only gripe would be with available lenses. Would love an 85 1.8 from Pentax that does not cost more than the Nikon equivalent.

I felt the same way, but then I discovered the Samyang 85mm for Pentax. It is manual focus but very easy to use and the shots were amazing. Since I hike and it is a large lens I haven't used it often. I also acquired an equally good Voigtlander 90mm for Pentax. This lens is only available used, but the build, using a lot of metal, is very good so you can probably find one in excellent condition.

Also, Pentax did make an FA 85mm not so very long ago. I don't know why it was discontinued. All the reviews I've read say it is a great lens. The price is high for a used lens, but those who have it say it is worth the price. Since it is especially valued as a portrait lens and I use my lenses for hiking, I never bought one. I just at one time had the unreasonable desire to have something in this range and satisfied it for less money with the Samyang and Voigtlander. But maybe this is the lens you were referring to that "cost more than the Nikon equivalent": http://www.imaging-resource.com/lenses/pentax/85mm-f1.4-if-smc-p-fa/review/
