Usage report Linux+Epson V550 scanner
1

A few months back I bought a refurbished Epson V550 scanner, its was pretty cheap from their site (Can't remember the price atm) to scan my old prints/negatives.

Yesterday I had a chance to test it out on negatives for the first time and it worked good. I used the Linux version of Image Scan from here http://support.epson.net/linux/en/iscan_c.html

Once installed iScan can be accessed through GIMP in File > Create > Scanner and it'll open up iScan.  In iScan select TPU for document source and adjust the DPI/Color settings to your liking. (this is after setting up the negative/slide platter/holder)

Once iScan finishes scanning it'll open the image in GIMP. Now you need to go to Color > Auto > White Balance and then to Color > Invert

After that just adjust the image color/exposure settings to your liking

Here's a sample photo, I didn't bother too much with adjusting colors/white balance as it was a test
