Canon 6D twice as slow ?

I have a Canon 6D using Sandisk 80MB/s and 90MB/s SD Cards.
I can shoot 100 frames at 1 FPS forever - until the SD Card is full.
100 frames takes me 101 seconds ( +1 second to write the last image )

Now, my friend has a Canon 6D with similar (fast) SD cards.
After about 15 Frames, his camera slooows to 1 Frame every TWO (2) seconds - HUH?
10 frames takes him almost 200 seconds - on all of his FAST SD cards.
We understand that his Fast Internal Buffer is FULL and so his speed drops.
BUT WHY?

When he takes a single image,
his Red LED ( saving file ) stays on twice as long as mine.

1/100 sec exposure - RAW only file
LENR is OFF
Manual Focus Lens
Wired external intervalometer
GPS is OFF
WiFi is OFF
SD Memory card - High Level Formatted still slow
SD Memory card - Low Level Formatted still slow

Is it possible that his SD Port is "faulty" such that it operates at 1/2 speed?
Could his CPU be busy doing something - WHAT?
We are stumped.

Canon EOS 6D
