Why is "Original Size" actually magnified?

I've noticed that if I post an image on Dpreview and I click the "Original Size" link at the bottom of the image, it will load in a new window downsized to fit the screen. That's fine.

When I click the magnifying glass on the image, it magnifies the image not to full size, but beyond 100%, which then creates artifacts in the image from upsizing. Same thing happens in gallery view when the image is viewed at "100%", or when using the small magnifying window. Can this be fixed?
