I agree they are a bit dark.  Stopping down (reducing aperture size) would reduce the light hitting the sensor and you would either have to decrease the shutter speed to allow the same amount light to hit the sensor or raise the ISO to increase brightness.  Reducing shutter speed may cause motion blur.  The lens sharpness would likely increase by stopping down but overall IQ may be worse due to increased ISO.  You would have to test out the optimal aperture, shutter speed, and ISO combination.
