I don't know how you came up with those numbers but I owned several copies of the original and as much as I loved the size and weight and wanted to love the optics it just isn't in the same ballpark as the other big primes in my experience. The mk2 is much better and is a lens I have no qualms using for serious photography but in my experience it isn't quite to the standard of the other lenses in that range. I'm not fully sold on DO tech just yet but don't let my opinion slow you down.

I still own one and have shot both side by side... I stand by my assessment. But, it is clear, the new one is substantially better than the older. The tech is definitely a little behind the conventional lens tech, but not by much. Most people, even those paying $6,000 - $12,000 for these lenses, will not mind the difference. Only those of us who really sit down and critique the lens' performance will be the only ones that care enough.
