I've gone to shooting manual with auto-ISO on my D750. It's very effective. I control the f/stop and exposure time to suit the subject and conditions. The ISO is visible in the viewfinder so I always can see if it's gotten strange. I've essentially said goodbye to motion blur, blown highlights and dead shadows (compared with my D300 which rapidly went downhill as the ISO went up).

My RAW files always open with good image brightness (I default to -0.3 stop exposure correction in Lightroom) and are easy to work with.
