Good day,

When using oly E-P5 with the panasonic 7-14mm f4, i found that combination produce some purple color blobs in photos whenever there're strong light source within the framing. I have read that this doesn't exist with panasonic cameras. May i ask if this have been solved with the E-m1 mk2 ?

Thank you.

It is solved by moving a few degrees away from the the flare point.

You mean by changing your preferred composition to an inferior one?

I tried the Panasonic 7-14 on a mk1 and it was dreadful for flare, ghosting and purple blobs. Bodging a solution with a filter may reduce the purple blobs, but much of the flare and ghosting will still be present.

The Oly 7-14 is better for flare etc, but has extreme field curvature which can heavily degrade corner sharpness if you’re not careful.

Haven’t tried the panasonic 8-18mm, but knowing what I now know about the shortcomings of the Panasonic and Olympus 7-14 lenses I would certainly consider the 8-18 if I were buying a super wide zoom again.

I agree... but as far as "normal" flare goes I think they will all flare a lot of the sun is in the frame. One might be more than another and do it differently in different situations. I suspect the Oly might be most prone to it due to size of front element. "Normal" flare sunspots do not bother me too much. Flare from a sunny window when shooting an interior is another story. Especially if there is a purple blob secondary image of the bright window.
