I think if you are changing the field of focus from close to far it might seek a bit but I was pretty much shooting these in one sitting without the subject distance changing so I found the focus fairly fast and accurate. That being said I do use back button focus.

Also if you are shooting wide open you need to pick the target carefully like an eyebrow or the lips. This is true with an M body as with a DSLR, focus is critical at wide apertures.
