NX500 - the dark horse
6

Long story short, I got Canon G7X couple of years ago and took it to Burning Man 3 times. Result: optics and camera full of dust. Some buttons stopped working. Ouch

So after shooting with sand in the optics for couple of years I wanted to get to the next level and find a camera that fits my pocket. Canon G1X Mark III could kind of be a good choice and has some pluses but lens is just too "normal". So I decided to look elsewhere. Initially I thought I would end with SONY a5100 but then I read about Samsung NX500. The body is great and the optics options are better than SONY for my use. I got the camera couple of days ago with a 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 lens and took test shots with it and G7X. Samsung photos are much cleaner - so I'm really impressed so far. One reason being I got Panasonic LX100 at one point and found that the photo quality was worse than G7X. I returned it right away.

So I'm happy to join the Samsung club. It's a shame that they exited the mirrorless market but in a way it's a blessing - you can pick up a NX500 for $500 and have what appears to be the best sensor in mirrorless market today. Considering how good this product appears to be, I can only think that brand loyalty killed them. I admit, I was one of those people but I dug deeper and took a dive. So far the photos I took with NX500 look amazing.
