But I've often used pro Nikon gear in the rain and never experienced a problem. The picture is of a 70-200/2.8 after having made pictures for a publisher who wanted a series of pictures of Paris in the rain. By that time the lens had already dried up a bit. My conclusion: lenses and camera's are better protected against the weather than I am. Still, there is never a guarantee and if you want to be on the safe side, use some plastic bags.
