So, I got caught in a heavy rainstorm last weekend (about four 1/2 days ago) and my Canon t6 got rain on it. I had a plastic bag on me and I stored my camera in it after it started to rain but water got in the bag anyway and my camera got slightly wet (not soaked or immersed). Lesson learned.

I took out the battery as soon as I realized what had happened, and let the camera dry for four days. Turned it on today with a new battery... it's working again, taking photos okay, but the rear LCD has dark patches and is diagonally "crisscrossed" with darkish lines.

Will this go away on its own if I put it in a 'dry box' with silica packets or is my LDC ruined and do I need to have it replaced?

Rear LCD of Canon t6 with water intrusion.

Silicon packets could not hurt give it a shot. However we may be looking at smudges or damage from water residue. Your other options would be to live with the streaks or have Canon repair it.

IMO a T6 repair service may not be worth it. Check out prices on preowned and grey market bodies for replacement. T6 refurbs can go for $280 with kit lens (~$100 value). Minimum Canon USA repair fee is ~$150 I believe.
