Honestly it sounds like you have no need for the 2.8 since you don't need the speed, think the 4 is "very, very good" and think it has a massive weight advantage. The 4 is a fantastic lens that can easily give you huge prints. Any difference, if it exists, in sharpness at f/4 is only going to show up when doing extreme pixel peeping. The reason to me to get the 2.8 is that extra stop but that doesn't seem like what you are after.
