Re: The canon powershot SX730 HS or any other similar point and shoot.. + splash proof?

Hey guys, buying my first camera for an expedition to Cambodia next year and I really wanted a decent compact camera to take with me.
So basically after a bit of research and looking in stores, the PowerShot SX730 HS looked perfect for me but has anybody got any other suggestions for a 400 dollar camera that is fairly durable?
And secondly, for any of these kinds of cameras, how much can they take? can they survive a small splash or are they very vulnerable?
Also, my apologies for such a broad and seemingly strange question.
Thanks!
If funds allow you really need 2 cameras so why not get the SX730 HS for reach and get insurance on it in case it gets trashed and a Olympus TG-5 or 4 if they are still around in case everything does get a dunking. A spare camera doubles your battery capacity and the Olympus has GPS built in which saves fiddling around with geologging on the smartphone.
The Canon equivalent the D30 which I have is long in the tooth and the lens is slow but may be an adequate backup but it has GPS. I bought a clearance shop display one for £159 with full warranty and it is unmarked and they are tough.
One thing though be sure you want a 40x zoom without an EVF. Try and see if the store will let you use it outside in bright sunlight at full zoom. The camera is probably good for 30x really as with the few images I have seen the noise and optical zoom run a close race over 30x.
Edit: What about the Panasonic FZ300/330. It is bulky but claims weather resistance and f2.8 all down the zoom. That is the one I would take. 12mp also so Panasonic are avoiding these18mp chips designed by the marketing departments.
