Canon's PowerShot are getting smarter... (the hidden features of the G1X III)

Facial registration with up to 12 faces for purposes of preset configurations if a given face is detected. Example, my baby girl, use a wide aperture, and slower shutter. My rambunctious son that bolts around the house? Faster shutter. You get the idea.

58 Auto Modes now.

75 IS modes now.

5-axis IS for video (M5/M6/M100 carryover)

Panning IS (another M5 carryover)

Although it may seem like a snoozer on the cusp of it, Canon is actually making their cameras smarter for those who use Auto, which is any memeber of the family who picks up the camera other than me. With the smartphone onslaught and it's fake bokeh and in phone lighting adjustments, it'll be interesting to see what else Canon cooks up in the near future to stay competitive. I can say their bluetooth/wifi implementation is quite good compared to peers for making it easier to share on their smartphone. That's another fluff, but it's fluff I've used... My Instagram is fed by my Canon, not my iPhone...
