From Canon Japan regarding weather resistance:

It prevents invasion of sand and water drops accidentally falling down, realizes a dust-proof and drip-proof structure resistant to raindrops and dust.

"New release button"

Not that you couldn't already customize buttons to death on a Canon, but the G1X III can more...

"Also supports simulataneous development of multiple images "RAW development in camera" (I can do my DPP work in camera now, nice... I'll be attached it to USB power for that, also nice)

"User interface" which can be operated in the same sense as EOS (maybe the EOS is feel is coming back to the Powershot?!?!)

9 blade feathers (regarding bokeh quality on the lens)

Large aperture lens optimized for APS - C size CMOS sensor. Within the limited space, we achieved a focal length of 24-72 mm and the shortest shooting distance of F 2.8, 10 cm at the wide angle end. It realizes high depiction power that draws out the capability of about 24.2 million high pixels. Three aspheric lenses on both sides and one aspherical lens on one side are adopted, and the occurrence of various aberrations is highly suppressed. Also, by adopting the inner focus method, high speed AF is possible. It condensed high image quality with large sensor and high performance lens into a lightweight · compact body.

Digital Teleconverter

The magnification can be raised with the F value kept small, and the camera shake can be suppressed with the high speed shutter. The magnification can be selected about 1.6 times and about 2.0 times.

"HS System" that supports "high sensitivity and beautiful photos"

With high sensitivity sensor and image engine DIGIC in cooperation, HS SYSTEM can take beautiful even with high sensitivity. Noise is suppressed even in a night scene or a room with little light intensity, and it depicts vividly. It also demonstrates its power even in scenes with large contrast differences.

Bit rate * 1 realizes approximately 35 Mbps (in case anyone's wondering, that matches my M5)

And last but not least, looks like they've made IS, not just 4-stops, but smarter...

58 Auto modes for detection.

75 different IS modes.

It's late at night here, they've thrown a bunch of stuff in here, the Canon Japan site in Google Chrome translate highly recommended, have a look yourself.

Their image samples through the products pages are ALOT better. Figures. Japanese are probably nuts about this camera.

Edit: One more of interest.

You can register faces, for the camera to remember your shooting preference for that face (where are they storing THAT facial recognition data?), useful for babies that don't move, or like my son that up and bolts at the drop of a hat. You can register up to 12 people btw.
