A few from the Basin - Fall in the White Mountains
10

The Basin is a naturally occurring granite bowl carved by running water, and is one of the most popular attractions in the White Mountains of NH, especially considering that it is only a short walk from the highway.  Fall colors this year haven't been the best, but I decided to try out the Quattro / 18-35mm combination and a polarizer with some of the small waterfalls that surround the Basin proper.  The afternoon light was a bit harsh, and the park was swarming with people traipsing through my shots (the nerve), but I'm rather pleased with the results

Processed from raw in SPP with small tweaks / crops in Photoshop.  It appears that the new version of SPP (at least on my computer) is setting Sharpening to +5 by default, and backing off to 0 or -3 gives a generally good image without 'sand' or artifacts.

As always, C&C is welcome ...

Long capture / small aperture experiment

Reduced exposure, + fill light in order to minimize sunlight 'burn'

Why they call it "The Basin"

Thanks for looking ...
