Interval Timer Blocks Camera

Hi,

I'm using a Nikon D3200 and a cheap Shenzhen timer shutter-release.

I'm attempting to do some interval timer photography for a timelapse, and have the intervalometer set to 3 seconds. However, when I activate it, it will trigger the first photo, but then doesn't seem to allow the camera to reset between shots, and won't take any others. It has the same effect as holding down the shutter release button manually. If I change the shutter mode to continuous, it just keeps taking photos after the first interval.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Many thanks.

Nick
