Light Solutions for Shooting Videoa

Hi,

I intend to make some videos (for hosting on YouTube) on technical stuffs. (I am a Linux Admin and enjoy Scripting.)

My room lights look okay but not effective or impressive enough for this purpose. I must mention that have some backdrops (black and white) of fur fabric but their back sides are rough so I can hang them somehow (haven't got a backdrop stand yet) to avoid distractions in the background.

Should I get a room lamp and put it next to me to illuminate my face or should I consider buying a dedicated continuous light / LED something?

I am not into videography yet so am looking for a cheap or a DIY sort of solution for my purpose.

Your suggestions, please.

One more thing, for shooting tutorials, should I shoot in Auto or Manual? What's your preference?

BTW, my videos will be 1 or 2 minutes long for each tutorial as I will merge screen records after giving introductions. I am not yet sure as to how to seamlessly merge / attach them in terms of their height and width.

Thanks,

Dev.
