I asked Adobe about LR Classic CC pricing
5

I didn't really get anywhere. Mostly it was just feedback/comments for them to pass on because if no one says anything, how will they know what the customers think?

Anyway, the online chat with their reps didn't go anywhere. I was specifically asking about the Lightroom Classic CC pricing and first, one person informed me my LR6 serial number was indeed valid and ok to use (Yeah, I know...I bought it and use it already). The second person just told me the pricing is what it is and informed me I can buy LR6 outright for $149. Again, yes I know that because I already own it and the serial numbers all the way back to LR 1.  When the first guy asked for my serial number, I thought to myself that they were going to verify I was a real customer and then offer me some kind of discounted subscription.  No.

Here's the transcript if you needed a little giggle. I removed any personal info:

info: You are now chatting with Jyoti.

Please don’t close the chat window or browser tab since it will end our chat session.

ME: As it stands right now, the cost is $9.99 and it includes Photoshop as well, but I do not need or want Photoshop. I would like an option with no cloud storage and a simple subscription to Lightroom Classic CC (for use strictly on my PC and I will store my files locally or take care of cloud storage in some other fashion, like an online backup service just for disaster recovery). If you don't know the answer right away, then please take this as my suggestion/comment. There are MANY people in the photography forums that are not happy with the recent announcement to discontinue the standalone version and we all feel that the $9.99 price is not reasonable since the vast majority of us only need Lightroom and will never ever use Photoshop. I think most of us would be perfectly fine with something like $5 per month for a subscription just to Lightroom Classic CC, nothing else. I sure would be ok with that...but that option does not exist.

Jyoti: We appreciate your patience and apologize for the wait.

Jyoti: Hello! Welcome to Adobe support.

ME: Thanks...I'll wait for your reply after you read my messages.

Jyoti: I apologize for the inconvenience.

Jyoti: No worry.

Jyoti: Sure, I can help you with that.

ME: Maybe my comments are mostly just feedback for Adobe management that you can pass on, because currently there is not an option that I'm happy with (the subscription pricing and the software choices).

Jyoti: I apologize for the inconvenience.

Jyoti: I will try my level best for resolved this issue.

Jyoti: Could you help me with serial key?

ME: Well, if you can offer Lightroom Classic CC for around $5, my problem would be resolved Hold on...I'll get my LR 6 serial for you.

ME: one moment

Jyoti: Ok

ME: 1160-*****-****

ME: That's the upgrade serial for LR6

Jyoti: Thanks.

ME: I have the serials all the way back to LR 1

Jyoti: Ok Let me check.

ME: ok

Jyoti: Thanks.

Jyoti: Thank you for your patience.

ME: No problem

Jyoti: As I checked with resources the key you have it is good to go for use Lightroom 6

ME: Right, but I was just asking about the Lightroom Classic CC subscription and the possibility of a lower monthly price, ONLY for Lightroom Classic CC. I guess there's no option for that and I don't know how to provide feedback to Adobe regarding this issue, other than mentioning it here.

Jyoti: Jon, I am from standalone Installation team, and we have one dedicated team can I transfer you in sales team.

Jyoti: Can I transfer In sales team?

ME: Yes

Jyoti: Thanks.

Jyoti: One moment while I transfer you to the specialist that can assist you.

ME: ok

info: Please wait while I transfer you to an operator at Adobe Sales.

info: You are now chatting with 'Dexter' at Adobe Sales.

Dexter: Hi, may I have your first name please?

ME: Hi

ME: Jon

Dexter: Hello Jon

Dexter: It's nice to have you on chat

Dexter: How can I help you with your purchase today?

ME: I had some questions but mostly comments about the new CC offerings. I'll paste in my text to the previous person so I don't have to type it all again

Dexter: Lightroom Classic CC is now available, you can purchase it only in CC All apps plan or Photography Plan

ME: Basically, I doubt there's anything you can do about the pricing so mostly what I'm saying is just feedback for management at Adobe. I think we need another option ONLY for Lightroom Classic CC at a lower price because most of us don't need/want Photoshop. It feels like we're paying for a product we don't need. In the past we had the choice to avoid that by staying with the standalone Lightroom....but now Lightroom standalone is being discontinued, so we have no options

ME: Yes I know....but I'm just saying there's no option less than $9.99. You either have to pay for Photoshop as well OR you pay for more storage, which many of us don't need/want

Dexter: There is no option to get Lightroom Classic CC at less than $9.99/mo

ME: I know...that's my point. It's more of a comment/feedback I'd like to have passed on to Adobe management. I think Adobe would have many more subscriptions if they would just cut the price and only offer Lightroom Classic CC as an option. People would be willing to buy that....including me. But for now, it seems unreasonable because I have to pay for something I don't want...or I lose access to Lightroom updates that support new cameras.

Dexter: If you wish you can still purchase Lightroom 6 outright at $149.00

ME: I already own Lightroom 6 and the previous versions all the way back to version 1

Dexter: You will get a survey after ending this chat to share your comment/feedback

ME: Adobe said there would be no more updates for LR6 after this year

ME: ok

ME: thanks

ME: I guess we can end this then and I'll use the comment section to provide feedback about the pricing/options

Dexter: Sure

Dexter: Is there anything else I can help you with?

ME: No that was all.
