Need advise on cutting unexposed film.

I know, this site is about digital photography but… I’m quite sure there is around here some peoples that have worked with film in a black room.
I have to cut down unexposed film, to try to create some 828 from 120, I will do that for the first time soon,
My local film dealer gave me exposed and processed film to practice and 120 back paper to cut down to 35mm…
I have never touched unexposed film except the end of 35mm film,
I guess that I should not place my fingers in the middle of the film but what about the table or other object,
I guess that all this has to be perfectly clean and dust free,
Are there other things to think of?
Is the film wet?
Is there some coating product that could be damaged if in contact with some Materials like fabrics or metal or wood?
Is there a surface more fragile than the other?
