Things have changed a lot since the Windows XP era, more ramp, quad or more cores CPU, over 4 GHz overclocks, SSD and m.2 SSDs. I guess they should work faster with current PC tech.

That would be my guess too.

What I mean on the 2nd question was if the DNG files for Quattro are less flexible in editing (like Dynamic Range, color rendition, sharpness, white balance correction) then the X3F files from the older sensors like SD9/10/14/15/1 Merrill. I noticed that the DNG raw is 12-bit instead of 14-bit and around 150MB per file so maybe the file is created and read (by editors) in a different way then X3F.

Sorry, I have no experience with the Quattro nor Quattro-created DNG files.

Adobe has a raw-to-DNG converter that works for SD9 thru SD14 and maybe DP1, if that's of any interest.
