Printing Technique at Walgreens, Walmart, CVS

Been a long time since I got my photos done at my local pharmacy.  I print at good online labs - high quality inkjets or laser c-prints.   Searched online, but believe it or not, I could not find the technology that the drugstores use - is it giclee (inkjet)  process?

What is the quality difference between them and using online photo processors like Bayphoto for small prints like 4x6?

Also, if you get a passport photo is that giclee/inkjet?  As I see my passport photos, they look like film/digital c-prints.

Thanks,
