Is Olympus hr just an upscaling technique?

The Gh5 has the some the best detail retrieval of any camera considering its size, it doesn't smear fine detail like the em1 ii instead it preserves micro detail allowing high resolution scaling that appears to match sensors many sizes larger and many pixels denser. I am wondering if all Olympus hr is is some sort of scaling and interpolation method.

This is  a raw exported from dxo pro11 and upscaled in a stand alone package

This is the std hr Olympus jpeg o/p, which from experience is better than what I can achieve from raw

In one area I can see the advantage to hr, but considering its limitations, honestly I don't see any benefits over gh5, quite the reverse.
