APSC body for birding + lenses questions

I'm thinking of getting back to Nikon DSLR just for birding purpose since mirrorless is less than adequate in this genre

I'd prefer APSC for the reach and smaller size + cost

Would you recommend the D7500 or D500 taking into account value

Would the D7500 suffice with its older AF system?

Lenses are a bit more complicated; I 'm considering these due to their cost:

200-500mm : weighty and not as versatile

80-400mm: versatile but lacking reach

300 F4 + TC14II: sharp and small and bright but lacking reach

What else should I consider?

Thanks in advance
