Incoming swans and a blind curve (14)

I'm set up on the shore of the East Pond of Jamaica Bay wildlife Refuge just around the bend from the widest part of the lake and taking photos using my tripod mounted gear. Out of the corner of my eye I see movement and turn to see this swan coming in about to land in front of me.

-1 Incoming swan.

-2 Another swan comes in and it's closing on the first that just landed. These big birds are not very maneuverable!

-3 The one on the water tries to get out of the way

-4 I can't look!

-5 Wow, that was close!

-6 All stop!

-7 It's another swan coming into the same space!

-8 Another break for safety by the swan on the water

-9 The landing swan is panicking

-10 And starts skidding to a stop

-11 It's trying everything it can think of to stop

-12 The floating swan braces for impact

-13 And finally the incoming swan slows down

-14 Tranquility returns to the East Pond

Only in New York!

Comments and suggestions welcome,
