Milkyway in Tekapo NZ, and related stuff.

It's kind of a nice composition. Lake, snowy mountains, trees, stone building, windy tussock, Orion, Southern cross Magellanic clouds. The clouds, Sirius and Canopus make a smooth arc.

24mm. 30s f1.4 for the ground and 60s f2 for the sky. Pentax k5+astrotracer.

I struggled a bit making it as a single pano, as I changed my mind about how big to make it while photographing, so the order was wrong and the sky moved too much.

I had to wait till ~3:30 am for the tourists to go to bed.

The colours are a bit off. I dealt with the light pollution by uniformly reducing the red channel in Raw conversion.

My previous attempt a year or two back with the 8mm:

While I was waiting, I tried another location just south of town Nothing but trees to the south though:

Also did a couple of timepases there, and recently of a weak aurora: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-pFjoc2tJI

Starting with the Cosina 55/1.2, then 24/1.4 ending with the A50/1.4

The latest version of the Castle hill pano, with Mercator projection, and the horizon about right:

I hope you find something enjoyable!
