Long time lurker, first time poster. Hoping for a second opinion on this. I think my Nikon 24-70 lens has dust in it impacting my image quality - when I look at the rear element I can see dust on the inside. There's only 1 nikon authorized shop within a couple hundred miles and they are saying that dust in the lens impacting the image quality is impossible and it must be dust on my sensor so I should bring in my camera (D800) for them to clean it and there would be no point in taking apart and cleaning the lens. As far as I can tell, the specks only show up when I'm using the 24-70 lens so I feel like it can't be dust on the sensor. An example image is attached (and this is after cleaning up the worst spots in post). Would appreciate any thoughts on if they are right that this must be related to dust on the sensor rather than dust in the lens. Thanks!
