What if you save a raw file in DPP?

Hi,

I like to keep all my raw files "intact", in that I believe I should preserve the very raw, original data.

However, when I edit files in DPP, I get prompted whether I want to save the changes or not. What happens if I save the changes? Does that alter the raw data?

So far I've always chosen to discard the changes.
