Repair my Epson R3000 or buy new Epson SureColor P600?

I have had this Epson r3000 for YEARS. It replaced my R2400 and has always done a great job. Have not used it a lot lately but months ago when printing photos had blobs of black ink on the photos. Recently went to print on plain paper, quality was crappy so did some head cleaning followed by test patterns. Still get blobs of ink, and seems can't get it really clean in many colors. Put new black ink cartridge in and went thru 25%, wonder if head is leaking... duh.

Closest repair facility is 1.5 hrs away.

Epson has $150 rebate on the new printer and an additional $50 for upgrade from my current printer to this new model. That would bring price down to $599 for brand new printer.

I'm going to call the repair facility but should I dump hundreds in this or just go new? I'll have more info tomorrow when I call them and talk to them about this. I see it is not an uncommon issue. My R3000 was a refurb from Epson.
